Making gifts is fun! Giving gifts is almost as exciting as getting them. But, giving a gift that you made with your own two hands, that is a special reward of its own.
Heller loved to make gifts for his family and friends. Whether it was candy reindeer, freshly baked bread, a painted picture, or a trophy of legos, Heller made it with love and delivered it with pure joy!
The very last gift Heller gave (on the day before he joined his Father in Heaven) was a stuffed aligator from Build-A-Bear. He was convinced that his teacher could not be without a school mascot. He planned for it, did chores to earn money for it, and put it together with love. I am sure she will never forget his excitement as he presented his personal creation to her. I know I won't.
Kindness is a two-way street. The joy of giving and receiving go hand-in-hand.
Today's kindness suggestion is: Make your own gifts and give them with love. Your heart will thank you.
WELCOME!
On the day of Heller’s life celebration, his grandmother (Mapa) said these words:
“Many people have mentioned the fact that this tragedy (the loss of our sunshine) is heightened by the fact that it happened around Christmas, and they wonder how we will ever get through another Christmas.
Christmas is Christ’s day and we will continue to celebrate Jesus on that day! But December 22nd will be a day reserved for celebrating the life of Heller, and we will celebrate on that day (and perhaps a few days prior to) the way he would want us to. On that day, we will go out and make a change, do a good deed, and let the world know that a little boy once lived for that special reason.”
So, on December 22nd, Heller’s friends and family will honor his memory by spreading random (and deliberate) acts of kindness to others. We encourage you to go out and spread some kindness of your own.
Then, if you would like to, please leave a comment or send an email to BecauseofHeller@aol.com and share what you did, what you witnessed, or what others did for you so we may share Heller's impact with others. So we can remember that we are still celebrating his life!

This year, I made several gifts for people I don't know and will probably never meet, as well as for those I do know. I was surprised to find that it didn't matter...the spirit of giving apparently does not know a stranger.
